My Story

I began my journey in mental health in 2016 while serving in the AmeriCorps program in Great Falls, Montana. During this time, I focused on community outreach and integration, which allowed me to connect with individuals and families in need of support. This experience ignited my passion for helping others and laid the groundwork for my future endeavors. After moving to Vermont, I took on the role of a wilderness therapy guide. In this position, I led therapeutic programs in outdoor settings, using nature as a powerful tool for healing and personal growth. As a guide, I facilitated group activities and individual reflections, helping participants confront their challenges while fostering emotional resilience in a supportive environment. Following my time as a wilderness therapy guide, I joined a local mental health agency where I dedicated five years to behavioral intervention and case management. This role enabled me to work closely with clients, providing them with the necessary support and strategies to navigate their mental health journeys effectively. In 2022, I proudly obtained my Master's Degree in Counseling from Northern Vermont University. This academic achievement empowered me to deepen my understanding of mental health and therapeutic practices. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Education and Supervision at the University of the Cumberlands, further enhancing my expertise in the field and preparing me for advanced roles in counseling and education. With this knowledge, I took the exciting step of opening my own private practice, where I can offer personalized care tailored to the unique needs of my clients. My diverse experiences in community outreach, wilderness therapy, and mental health agency work have shaped my approach to counseling. I am committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for individuals seeking support, helping them to thrive and achieve their personal goals.

Our mission

Mental health counseling is an essential need across the nation, particularly within local communities where individuals often face unique challenges and stressors. With nearly 47 million Americans experiencing mental illness, the demand for accessible and effective support is more critical than ever. By fostering connections and promoting growth within these communities, we can empower individuals to seek help, share their experiences, and build a supportive network that contributes to overall well-being. Our mission is to address this urgent need by providing a space for counseling that is not only affordable but also tailored to the specific needs of local populations. By making mental health resources readily available, we aim to break down barriers that prevent individuals from accessing care, particularly in rural and underserved urban areas. This initiative is designed to create a ripple effect, encouraging community members to engage in open conversations about mental health, thereby reducing stigma and fostering a culture of acceptance and understanding. By prioritizing mental health counseling and promoting a culture of connection and growth, we can empower individuals to overcome their struggles and contribute positively to their communities. Together, we can build a future where mental well-being is prioritized, and every community is a safe space for healing and growth.

What is Wildwood?

Wildwood can be seen as a metaphor for a therapeutic environment that embraces both individual healing and collective growth. In therapy, the focus is often on personal exploration and addressing individual issues—akin to navigating through a dense, untamed forest where each path represents a unique journey. This individual approach allows for deep introspection and personal resilience, fostering an understanding of oneself amidst the chaos of emotions and experiences. In contrast, a collective therapeutic approach resembles the interconnected ecosystem of a wildwood. Here, individuals come together, sharing their stories and supporting one another, much like the diverse flora and fauna that thrive together in a natural setting. This communal aspect nurtures a sense of belonging and collective resilience, where the growth of one contributes to the well-being of all. The untouched wilderness symbolizes the potential for organic growth—both personally and collectively. Just as nature flourishes when left undisturbed, individuals can find healing and strength in an environment that respects their unique journeys while also encouraging collaboration and shared experiences. Ultimately, Wildwood embodies the balance between individual therapy and collective support, illustrating how both approaches can coexist harmoniously, allowing for profound personal transformation and a thriving community. Together, they create a resilient space where growth is nurtured, and the beauty of the wild is preserved.
